Bai'at literally means "to promise" and derives from the root word meaning "to sell". Bai'at littéralement signifie «promesse» et découle de la racine mot qui signifie «à vendre». In English the term Bai'at is often translated as "Oath of Allegiance" or "Pledge". En anglais Bai'at le terme est souvent traduit par "serment d'allégeance" ou "Engagement".

Taking Bai'at is Sunnah as our Holy Prophet (saw) took Bai'at from the Sahaba on many occasions. Prenant Bai'at est la Sunna de notre Saint Prophète (SAW) a pris la Bai'at de Sahaba, à de nombreuses reprises. In one narration our Holy Prophet (saw) said: Dans un récit de notre Saint Prophète (SAW) dit:

'Will you not make bai’at to the Rasul of Allah?' «N'allez-vous pas faire bai'at au Rasul d'Allah?" We stretched our hands and enquired: On what shall we make Bai’at to you, O Rasul of Allah? Nous tendu nos mains et qui a demandé: Sur quoi allons-nous faire pour vous Bai'at, O Rasul d'Allah? He (saw) said. Il (SAW) dit. 'That you make the Ibaadat of Allah,- that you associate nothing with Him,- that you perform the five Salaat; that you hear and obey." «Que vous le faire Ibaadat d'Allah, - que vous associez rien avec lui, - que vous effectuez les cinq Salaat, que vous entendre et obéir."

In the Qur'an, Allah (swt) says about Bai'at: Dans le Coran, Allah: SWT () dit à propos Bai'at:

"Verily, those who Swear Allegiance unto thee, O Muhammad (saw), in truth Swear Allegiance to Allah: The Hand of Allah is over their hands: then any one who violates his oath, does so to the harm of his own soul, and any one who fulfils what he has covenanted with Allah,- Allah will soon grant him a great Reward." "En vérité, ceux qui de prêter serment d'allégeance à toi, ô Muhammad (SAW), dans la vérité de prêter serment d'allégeance à Allah: la main d'Allah est sur les mains: alors un tout qui viole son serment, le fait au préjudice de sa propre âme, et l'un qui remplit ce qu'il a covenanted auprès d'Allah, - Allah lui accorder bientôt une énorme récompense. "

After the demise of the Holy Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wasallam) this Sunnah was assumed and practised by many elite Sahabah, on the authority of our Holy Prophet (saw). Après la disparition du Saint Prophète (sallalahu alaihi wasallam), cela a supposé la Sunna et pratiquée par de nombreux élite Sahabah, sur l'autorité de notre Saint Prophète (SAW). These eminent Sahabah included Hadhrat Abu-bakr Siddiq (ra) & Hadhrat Ali (ra) and before they departed they also nominated their successful students to carry on this Sunnah. Ces éminents Sahabah inclus Hadhrat Abou-Bakr Siddiq (ra) et Hadhrat Ali (ra) et avant qu'ils repartent ils ont désigné leurs succès les étudiants à s'acquitter de cette Sunna. Thus this tradition has been passed down from one generation to the next through an authentic chain of Friends of Allah (swt)..This chain is known as a Silsilah and these vary according to the Sufi Order . Ainsi, cette tradition a été transmise d'une génération à l'autre par une chaîne authentique des Amis d'Allah: SWT () .. Cette chaîne est connue sous le nom de Silsilah et celles-ci varient selon le soufi arrêté.

To enter a Sufi order one must do Bai'at to a Kamil Sheikh. Pour entrer un ordre soufi doit faire un Bai'at à une Kamil Cheikh.

There are two types of Bai'ah that one can perform: Il existe deux types de Bai'ah que l'on peut effectuer:

Bai'ah al Barakah: This is where one initiates oneself into a spiritual order merely for the blessings of being part of the spiritual order of which has a direct link with the Holy Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wasallam) without a break in sequence. Bai'ah al Barakah: C'est là où une lance en soi-même un ordre spirituel seulement pour les bénédictions de faire partie de l'ordre du spirituel qui a un lien direct avec le Saint-Prophète (sallalahu alaihi wasallam) sans une rupture dans l'ordre. This Bai'ah is beneficial and brings one in the bank of those who have a link with the beloved ones of Allah. Cette Bai'ah est bénéfique et apporte un dans la banque de ceux qui ont un lien avec le bien-aimés de Allah.

Bai'ah al Iradah / Bai'ah al Salikeen: This is where one "sells" one's self and surrenders completely to to the Friend of Allah (swt). Bai'ah al Iradah / Bai'ah al Salikeen: C'est là où un «vend» un soi-même et la rend complètement à l'ami d'Allah: SWT (). Similar to how the corpse is left in the hands of the ghassal' (washer). La même manière que le corps est laissé entre les mains de l'ghassal »(machine à laver). This Bai'ah leads one to receive both deen and dunya Spiritual Faiz . Cette Bai'ah conduit à recevoir les deux deen et dunya spirituel Faiz. It is this very type of Bai'ah that was undertaken by the Sahaba upon the hands of the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) and is also injuctioned in the Quran as it leads one to Allah (swt): C'est ce type même de Bai'ah qui a été entrepris par les Sahaba, sur les mains du Prophète (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) et est également injuctioned dans le Coran car il conduit à Allah: SWT ():

"O you who believe, fear Allah and seek a means of approach unto him, and strive in His path so that you may attain success" "O vous qui croient, la crainte d'Allah et de chercher un moyen d'approche vers lui, et s'efforcer dans Son chemin pour que vous atteindre mai succès"
